The changing trends have meant that most people want to use only the lightweight drills for home use. The reason is simple you need something which is less bulky and easy to store as well as easy to use.
The earlier trends was to get a heavy and bulky drill but now the trend has reversed and that has meant that you need to have less bulky kind of drill.
That is why lower voltage drills as are now being used by wood workers also as they also need light drills alongside the heavy drills for their use.
